Winter holiday bookings down, customers paying the price

Owner of First Choice and Thomson, TUI, has reported that sales of winter holidays were down by a fifth. However, they have been able to offset some of this loss by upping their prices by 11%. It has been a mixed season with summer holiday bookings and long haul holidays down but with less availability maintaining prices.

So is this good news or bad news. Well at least one of the big UK operators is not about to disappear in a puff of recession smoke. However, how happy are you that they are restricting holiday availability to keep prices high?
