In the North West of France, the Vendee has mile after mile of golden sandy beaches which makes it the perfect place for those who enjoy holiday homes, caravans, mobile homes and camping.

It’s a favourite destination with families because of the wonderful beaches that are perfect for building sandcastles, playing in the sea and surf, water sports or just plain and simply relaxing in the sun.

So if you are heading to the Vendee for a family holiday where should you head? Here are the most highly rated parks in 2011…

Le Clarys Plage at St Jean de Monts. The holiday park is just a short stroll to a magnificent beach with excellent play areas for the children. We have stayed at this site many times and it is perfect for families with lots of kids activities, great pools (indoors and outdoors) and entertainment on site. Le Ecureuils, St Hilaire de Riez. Another great holiday park in the Vendee…. so good we stayed here 3 years in a row. It has a lovely beach and cycle paths close by, a superb restaurant and great pools including a kids indoor pool. Sol a Gogo, St Hilaire de Riez. Another popular park in this family friendly area of the Vendee. Sol a Gogo has a striking pool complex that has a Roman ruins theme that is packed all summer long.
