The rise of the very short break

As the recession takes its toll there has been a surge in the number of holiday makers taking short one night stop over breaks.  Research by Hotels.com has shown that bookings on these short holiday breaks has increased by 29% with searches for overnight breaks rising 530%.

In the UK popular, one of the favourite cities for an overnight stop is Brighton with bookings up 140%.  The Quality Hotel, a UK hotel directory, has seen a similar trend with overnight and weekend break bookings increasing significantly this year.  Brighton tends to be a popular short break location because it is within easy reach of London, but other towns & cities are attracting short breaks including Nottingham, Bristol, Bath, Southampton, Great Yarmouth and Blackpool.
