Texting on holiday set to be cheaper
For all those holidaying in Europe this year the good news is that sending texts home via your mobile phone will cost just 9p. For most people that is a 60% reduction on exisiting rates thanks to MEP’s who voted to cap the costs of roaming texts from July.
Rules set in July 2007 had already reduced the excessive costs of phoning from abroad but texting had remained a profitable loophole for the operators.
This is great news for all us setting off on our summer holidays – knowing that the odd text to family and friends to let them know we have arrived safely isn’t going to cost a small fortune.
