Surfing in Cornwall – September/October 2010

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

As the school holidays draw to a close and we head in to September and October it is the perfect time to be thinking of a surfing break in Cornwall.  The roads and beaches are finally becoming quieter and the swells are starting to grow, so this really is a great time to hit the beach in the south west of England.

Popular surfing locations such as Fistral Beach and Watergate Bay in Newquay and Polzeath near Padstow are great places to head but there are pleny of other great surf beaches to aim for.  Click here to find out more about surf schools and surf hire in Cornwall.

If you are heading to the south west there is plenty of accommodation available, particularly as we head to the end of the season, ranging from self catering cottages and apartments to some great holiday parks and lodges, including:

It’s not too late to catch the waves in Cornwall

Beachcombers at Watergate Bay, Newquay

It’s not too late to catch some surfing action this year in the UK.  In fact with the summer holidays over and the Autumn approaching, now is the perfect time to catch some better waves on a much less crowded coast.

When you think of surfing in the UK, you inevitably think of Cornwall with its great sandy beaches and great consistent waves that can suit the novice as well as the more experienced surfer.

Newquay is seen as the UK centre for British surfing with The National Surf School based on Fistral Beach.  However, don’t just head for Fistral Beach, check out a lot of the beaches in the area including the highly popular Watergate Bay.

If you are looking to stay in the area then there are a lot of holiday parks in the Newquay area and if you are looking for something a little more luxurious you can check out self catering and cottages in Cornwall.
